The Asia-Pacific Chapter of the Association of Inspectors General will host a training symposium at the Hale Ikena, Fort Shafter, Hawaii on 1 October 2014. The training will enhance skills of auditors, inspectors, investigators, managers, contracting, procurement and legal officials by providing critical knowledge and techniques essential for preventing and detecting Procurement Fraud.

Procurement Fraud, Procurement Abuse, or acts of Non-Compliance to procurement policy is, by its very nature, a product of human behavior rather than solely a process control problem. To review and mitigate these type of events, the target audience needs to understand the anatomy of procurement fraud, the personalities and motivations of the people committing these acts, the fraud schemes being used against management controls, and the various procurement integrity controls needed to protect organizational procurement processes. This day of training will highlight procurement fraud’s uniqueness, the five personality risk profiles, the major procurement fraud schemes, and the various interrelated elements needed in building organizationally specific procurement integrity controls.
Instructor: Thomas Caulfield, CFE, CIG, CIGI – longtime Executive Board member of the Association of Inspectors General and the current Executive Director of the Training Institute for the President’s Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE).

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits: Up to 8 hours of CPE credits may be earned at the completion of the entire training symposium or in accordance with segments attended.
